Ballinasloe Meals on Wheels is a food service, which aims to support independent living through nutritional and social support. It enables older people and anyone who needs the service to maintain good health and independent living in their own communities by providing nutritious meals that are delivered to their homes. Approximately 12,000 hot nutritious meals were provided to recipients in Ballinasloe and the surrounding areas of Cappatagle, Kilconnell, Ahascragh and South Roscommon last year.
The service is supported by a loyal group of volunteers that assist in the delivery of meals on a rota basis. If you wish to become a Meals on Wheels volunteer, contact Kay at 087 2325163. The service is also supported by Fas, through the supply of a Fas worker in the kitchen.
Meals are also delivered by our Meals on Wheels Co-Ordinator, Kay Cunningham, in our Meals on Wheels van. Our delivery van was purchased with the kind support from IPB Insurance
We take part in the FEAD (European Fund for Aid to the Most Deprived) programme by accessing food stuffs, which we use in the preparation of meals and in the distribution of food parcels. See FEAD poster on this website
